I was on a black and white shading kick when I drew this. I had been heavily into pencil and ink drawings, so this was above all an opportunity to practice my digital art skills. Sharaz Jek is the villain of the classic Doctor Who serial, The Caves of Androzani. I found his design fascinating, particularly the long eyelashes on the scarred half of his face, which you can see in the icon version of this piece.
